New work-related injuries report published

Safe Work Australia has released a new report on occupational injuries.

Safe Work Australia says ‘the report compares survey data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics with SWA’s National dataset for compensation-based statistics and findings from our Safer, healthier, wealthier research.’

The report reveals that 497,300 (3.5%) working people sustained an injury at work or illness in 2021-22, a decrease of 0.7 from 2017-18.

In 2020-21, 1.9 million weeks were lost due to work-related injuries or illnesses.

The report shows more workers received workers’ compensation in 2020-21 compared to 2017-18.

The new report is accessible here.
