Safe Work Australia has released a new article examining the differences in work health and safety results across urban, regional, and remote regions of Australia

According to Safe Work Australia, the analysis employs national workers' compensation claims data to present new viewpoints on the diverse rates of worker injuries and illnesses in these areas.

Evidence indicates that, in general, the rate of severe claims and the burden of lost time due to occupational injuries and diseases are higher in the most remote regions of Australia than in the major urban centers.

Moreover, mental health issues are more prevalent in city environments, whereas physical injuries tend to occur more frequently in rural locations

“The article features interactive visualisations that let you explore the data by remoteness area, injury type, and employment composition,” Safe Work Australia said.
