New regulations to help prevent work-related psychological injuries in South Australia

New regulations to help workplaces manage the risks of psychological injuries will be introduced in South Australia at the end of this year.

According to SafeWork SA, psychological illnesses affect workers’ health resulting in reduced workplace productivity.

“These new regulations reflect the outcomes of an independent review of Australia’s model work health and safety laws in 2018, which recommended more specific guidance on how to identify and manage psychosocial risks,” SafeWork SA said.

The new regulations will be supported by a Code of Practice on managing psychosocial hazards at work developed in consultation with key stakeholders.

The regulations will take effect in December 2023.
