National Safe Work Month: Shining a light on workplace safety in the ACT

October is National Safe Work Month, a time for all people in the ACT to show their commitment to workplace health and safety.

WorkSafe ACT is holding safety sessions throughout this month to answer questions from employers, workers and the general public on workplace health and safety.

WorkSafe ACT’s theme for this year is Safe Work Month: it’s everyone’s Territory.

“We wanted to really connect with Canberra because improving the health and safety of workers in the ACT is why we exist," Work Health and Safety (WHS) Commissioner Jacqueline Agius said.

A strong safety culture in all industries across the Territory means all workers return home safely at the end of each day."

WorkSafe ACT says it will focus on a different topic each week. This week the safety regulator is focusing on ‘vulnerable workers, including young workers, labour hire licensing and workers’ compensation.’
