National Agriculture Day
National Agriculture Day
Agricultural days are celebrated annually in many countries to acknowledge the national contributions of those in the agricultural industry. From riding boundary fences on a remote cattle station to harvesting wheat in a combine-harvester, agricultural workers are the lifeblood of our communities.
In 2021, Australians will celebrate this day on November 19 and SafetyDocs by SafetyCulture would like to acknowledge the dangers all agricultural workers face when working the land.
Australian agriculture accounts for 55% of Australian land use and has diverse agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and with that comes a diverse range of workplace hazards making it one of the most dangerous industries to work in.
Statistics from SafeWork Australia show that agriculture has the highest fatality rate of any Australian industry (14.8 fatalities per 100,000 workers) with agricultural vehicles, e.g. tractors and quad bikes, accounting for 37% of worker fatalities.
To show our support for the hard and often dangerous work agricultural workers face we are offering a 40% discount on all agricultural products for the next 14 days.
