Missing Queensland miners found dead

Two workers who fell into a hole at an underground mine in northern Queensland have been found dead.

Their bodies were found by rescue workers on Thursday.

The miners were reported missing on Wednesday morning after their vehicle fell down a void.

Queensland Resources Minister Scott Stewart confirmed the state’s resources safety regulator has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.

“This is an absolute tragedy. It should never have happened,” he said in a statement.
