Mines emergency response assessed

Last year, the NSW Resources Regulator conducted an inspection program targeting underground mines to assess their preparedness for emergencies.

The regulator has recently published the results of the program in a consolidated report.

The report reveals that mine inspectors visited 12 underground mines and issued 17 compliance notices.

“For the 12 underground metalliferous mines, there were 156 individual assessment findings and, of those, 35 assessment findings required enforcement action to be taken,” the resources regulator states in the report.
