Medical professionals unite to combat black lung disease

A conference was recently held in Brisbane, bringing together medical professionals and radiologists from various parts of Queensland, who joined forces to enhance the screening procedures for diseases such as black lung and silicosis.

Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) collaborated with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Lungscreen Australia, and I-MED Radiology to organise the event.

Patrick Jensen, the Director of Health Strategy and Compliance at RSHQ, emphasised the significance of the 'B-Reader Summit' as a crucial platform for doctors to come together and work collaboratively in order to effectively identify and diagnose mine dust lung diseases.

"Today we provided B-readers the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test through specially designed workstations, challenging them with practical, real-world cases,” said Mr Jensen.
