Marie Boland to head Safe Work Australia

Safe Work Australia has a new Chief Executive Officer after Workplace Relations Minister, Tony Burke, appointed Ms Marie Boland AO to lead the federal safety agency.

Workplace Relations Minister, Tony Burke, said Ms Boland previously served as SafeWork SA’s executive director from 2015 to 2017.

“Ms Boland brings significant experience to the role, having completed the National Review of Australia’s model work health and safety laws in December 2018 – known as the Boland Review,” Burke said.

The new CEO succeeds Ms Michelle Baxter who has held the position since 2015.

The minister thanked Ms Michelle for her achievements during her tenure as CEO.
