Man freed after getting hand stuck in garbage truck compactor west of Sydney

Emergency services freed a man after his hand got stuck in a garbage truck compactor at a worksite west of Sydney.

The man in his 40s was dragged five metres into the truck after becoming trapped.

It took emergency crews more than four hours to free him.

The incident happened while the man was cleaning the truck.

He was transported to Westmead Hospital with a serious limb injury following the incident on Friday morning.
