Man dies after conveyor belt incident in Newcastle

A 65-year-old man has died following a conveyor belt incident on Kooragang Island.

The man was struck by a pole while working at a demolition site on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

SafeWork NSW is investigating the incident.
