Light aircraft crash claims life of WA pilot

A man lost his life when the light aircraft he was flying crashed in the Midwest region of Western Australia on Friday morning.

A member of the public reported the sighting of wreckage in Ogilvie, approximately 500km north of Perth, prompting emergency services to respond shortly after 11am. 

According to a spokesperson for WA Police, the pilot, who was in his sixties, was the only individual aboard the aircraft and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the incident will be conducted by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
