Investigations launched following incident at NSW mine

The NSW Resources Regulator has begun a probe to uncover the cause of an incident that took place at a mine south west of Sydney last month.

“A suspected gas and rock burst occurred while operating a continuous miner in the underground mine. Four workers were in the vicinity, three were partially buried,” the regulator said.

All staff members were removed from the mine without incident, though they experienced various injuries. One worker had fractures in the ribs, pelvis, and vertebrae. An ambulance transported all four workers to the hospital for necessary medical care.
