Injured employees to receive increased assistance from VIC government
The Victorian government has announced that a bill presented in parliament this week aims to enhance the capacity of the State's workers' compensation scheme to deliver high-quality services, ensuring users are treated with fairness, respect, and dignity.
The State government says the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Amendment Bill 2025 implements recommendations from an independent review regarding the handling of complex workers' compensation claims, ultimately providing advantages for every injured worker.
The Bill additionally implements reforms based on the Victorian Government's assessment of the sufficiency of support provided to family members in the aftermath of a work-related fatality.
The Allan Government said the implementation of these changes will allow for the allocation of funds towards a more extensive selection of therapies and support mechanisms for the relatives of deceased workers and those experiencing an eligible progressive illness or serious injury.
