Industrial manslaughter charges for Darwin building contractor after worker’s fatal fall

A Darwin building contractor is facing industrial manslaughter charges following the death of a worker at a Bayview construction site in April 2020.

The man, 60, was fatally injured after he fell about 3.2 metres through a void.

NT WorkSafe says it will allege that the contractor ‘recklessly ignored’ warnings about fall from height risks from several contractors.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

The case will be mentioned on Tuesday, 28 March 2023
