​Improved mental health support offered to workers in the NSW hospitality sector

In an effort to boost mental health and overall wellbeing, the NSW Government is dedicating resources to provide mental health support for workers in hospitality and tourism venues throughout NSW.

A one-time investment of $250,000 from the State Government will aid the Raising the Bar Foundation in creating and implementing The Barstool Project, a specialised mental health training program for employees in the hospitality and tourism sector in NSW.The Barstool Project aims to educate 10,000 workers statewide, enhancing their knowledge of mental health and wellbeing issues in the industry.

Member for Wollongong Paul Scully stressed the significance of maintaining a healthy mind, regardless of whether one works in an office, on a farm, or in a pub.

“Providing people in the hospitality and tourism sectors with the skills they need to identify mental health and wellbeing issues will not only benefit their colleagues but also help their customers as well,” he said.
