Hunter Workers to pay respects to those killed at work

Hunter Workers will today assemble at the Workers Memorial Stone at Newcastle Foreshore to mark International Workers Memorial Day.

Every year on April 28, workers in Australia observe Workers Memorial Day, a day to remember all those killed in workplace incidents each year.

The workers will meet at the Newcastle Foreshore at 12 pm to pay their respects to those who have died at work in NSW.

This year's Workers' Memorial Day theme is 'Make safe and healthy work a fundamental right. It's a no-brainer'.

Statistics show 187 Australian workers died on the job in 2021. The latest figures show more than 50 Australian workers have lost their lives this year.
