Fraudulent activities of VIC compensation scammer brought to a halt
A man from Clayton South has been directed to repay in excess of $125,000 and to undertake 240 hours of community service after being discovered operating as a rideshare driver while simultaneously receiving workers' compensation benefits.
The man was recently convicted in the Moorabbin Magistrates' Court after admitting guilt to a charge of receiving funds through deception, as well as a charge of fraudulently securing payments.
Following his conviction, the 37-year-old man was subjected to an 18-month Community Correction Order.
The Executive Director of Return to Work Victoria, Jason Lardelli, said he found it disheartening to witness such a calculated and extended effort to deceive the workers' compensation program.
