Forty-nine New Zealand workers killed on the job this year

A total of 49 New Zealand workers have died on the job so far this year, latest WorkSafe data shows.

The transport industry has the most fatalities with 16 work-related deaths.

The construction industry accounts for the second highest number of fatal incidents, with 8 occupational deaths.

The WorkSafe figures reveal that 6 workers in the Agriculture industry have suffered fatal work injuries this year.
