Forty New Zealand workers killed on the job this year

A total of 40 New Zealand workers have been fatally injured at work this year, latest WorkSafe statistics reveal.

The Transport Postal and Warehousing experienced the highest number of fatal incidents, with 12 deaths, followed by Construction and Agriculture with 6 fatalities each.

In 2022, there were 59 fatal occupational incidents in New Zealand.

WorkSafe said the above figures are ‘based on initial notifications and provide preliminary information.’ The safety regulator says it will release additional information once the fatal incidents have been investigated.
