FIWSG to continue supporting injured workers

SafeWork NSW's Family and Injured Worker Support Group (FIWSG) will remain in place until the end of this year.

FIWSG is a group of people who have suffered a serious work-related injury, or have a family member who has died in a workplace place incident.

Members of the FIWSG provide advice to SafeWork about the support needs of affected persons.

Minister for Fair Trading Eleni Petinos said the group had provided useful advice for those affected by workplace incidents and advocated for increased workplace safety.

"To lose a loved one in a workplace incident or suffer an injury yourself is a harrowing ordeal and SafeWork NSW is committed to minimising harm in the workplace, so for this reason we should always listen and learn from the experiences of survivors," Ms Petinos said.

"The Family and Injured Workers Support group is a forum where those impacted by a workplace injury or death can work side-by-side with the NSW Government to better support the health and safety of NSW workers.

The group has about 12 members, who meet every 3 to 4 months. The first meeting for 2022 will be on March 18.
