Farmer killed in tractor rollover in rural Auckland

A person sustained fatal injuries after rolling their tractor down a slope on a rural farm in Auckland on Tuesday night.

Police said they were contacted at 11:30 PM regarding the victim, who had not come back after applying herbicide on an isolated property in Hunua.

At midnight, police deployed the Eagle helicopter to survey the farm, where they discovered a body alongside a tractor that had tumbled down a bank.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and established that the person had passed away.

WorkSafe was informed, and the serious crash unit is looking into the matter.
