Eighty-one Australian workers killed in first half of 2022

Latest Safe Work Australia statistics show 81 Australian workers died on the job in the first half of 2022.

The Transport, postal and warehousing industry had the highest number of work-related deaths, with 34 fatalities, ten more than at the same time last year. Agriculture, forestry & fishing came second with 18 fatalities, while the Construction industry, with seven fatalities, was ranked third.

The figures show that the Public administration & safety industry recorded five fatalities, while Electricity, gas, water & waste services, Manufacturing and Other services each had four fatalities.
