Research suggests modifying job tasks could potentially decrease psychosocial hazards within the aged care sector

OHS Daily News

Curtin University's Centre for Transformative Work Design, a recipient of a research grant from Safe Work Australia, has concluded their study on interventions to address psychosocial risks in the aged care industry.

The two-year study was carried out in four residential care facilities operated by a major Australian non-profit organisation in the aged care sector.

The research report found that a work redesign process can help organisations discover efficient and cost-effective methods to decrease job demands.

Furthermore, the study revealed that engaging employees in the identification of psychosocial risks and the redesign process can lead to enhancements that exceed the benefits of merely applying control measures directly.

The research report is accessible on the Safe Work Australia data website.
