Deaths in the workplace: New data shows fatal incidents in the Agriculture industry are falling

The latest figures released by Safe Work Australia show the Agriculture, forestry and fishing industry has recorded six fatalities so far this year, 14 fewer than at the same time last year.

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous industries in Australia, and is a high priority industry under the Australian Work Health and Safety(WHS) Strategy 2023-2033.

The industry has consistently featured among the top five industries with the highest number of workplace deaths in Australia since 2015.

In 2022, Agriculture, forestry & fishing lost 37 workers while in 2021 there were 35 fatal incidents in the industry.
