Darwin equipment company plead guilty over fatal workplace incident

A Darwin equipment hire company and its managing director recently pleaded guilty to workplace safety violations that led to the death of a worker.

The 30-year-old man was helping load an excavator onto the back of a truck when a bucket dislodged and struck him.

He died at the scene.

The incident happened at a Darwin worksite in April 2019.

NT WorkSafe filed charges against the company and its director in May 2021.

The company and its director will be sentenced next week.
