Construction worker in critical condition, another sustains injuries after being hit by metal object in Brisbane

A worker is battling for his life, and another has sustained injuries after being hit by a metal object at a construction site in Brisbane.

At 12:10pm on Tuesday, paramedics were dispatched to Newstead in response to an incident involving a metal object that had fallen from machinery.

A 48-year-old man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with a severe head injury and is currently in a critical condition.

Paramedics reported that another worker was admitted to the same hospital due to a chest injury and is now in stable condition.

WorkSafe is currently conducting an investigation.
