Cargo services company fined after serious workplace injury

A cargo services company has recently been fined $110,000 following an incident in which a baggage handler suffered serious injuries when he fell from a moving vehicle at a Perth airport.

The company was fined by a Perth court after pleading guilty to failing to provide a safe workplace following the August 2018 incident.

WorkSafe said the man was unloading baggage from an aircraft when another worker drove by him. The man boarded the vehicle, and after travelling a short distance, the driver turned, and the man fell onto the tarmac. He sustained serious head injuries.
