SafeWork SA has annulled the licence of an asbestos removal firm for allowing the demolition of two homes in Kilburn without the necessary prior asbestos removal procedures.

The cancellation of the license took effect on January 16, 2025, as part of a comprehensive audit initiative aimed at over 100 licensed asbestos assessors and removal contractors.

The licensee, who additionally acted as the appointed supervisor and skilled individual, was assessed as being unable to effectively and safely oversee and perform work involving asbestos.

SafeWork suspended the company’s Class B Asbestos Removal Licence for a duration of 12 months

SafeWork SA Executive Director Glenn Farrell said it is essential for those who possess an asbestos licence to fully comply with all statutory regulations, considering the dangerous nature of asbestos.
