Australians urged to prioritise workplace safety this October

With the latest figures showing 115 Australian workers have been killed at work so far this year, Safe Work Australia reminds all Australians to prioritise workplace health and safety during National Safe Work Month.

In Australia, October is National Safe Work Month- a time to raise awareness about workplace health and safety.

Safe Work Australia figures indicate that over 120,000 workers are compensated each year for a serious workplace injury or illness, and nearly 200 die on the job.

Safe Work Australia Chief Executive Officer Michelle Baxter said, “I encourage workplaces across Australia to take part in National Safe Work Month and commit to creating a safe and healthy workplace that is free from physical and psychological harm.

MS Michelle said all Australian workers have the right to a safe work environment.
