Auckland businesses urged to protect workers during floods
WorkSafe NZ urges businesses in flood-ravaged Auckland to make health and safety a priority in the workplace.
The safety agency said employers should do what is possible to help workers. They should also discuss their safety plans with employees.
“Workers have a right to be kept safe and healthy, whether they are involved in cleaning up or clocking on for a shift. If it’s unsafe, speak up if you feel able to,” WorkSafe NZ said.
The safety watchdog said workers have a right to a safe working environment, urging those who feel unsafe to notify WorkSafe.
