Applications open for SafeWork SA’s 2024 Augusta Zadow Awards

SafeWork SA has recently opened nominations for the 2024 Augusta Zadow Awards.

The safety regulatory agency will offer financial support of up to $25,000 for initiatives promoting health and safety for young workers and women in the workplace.

The annual awards were created to commemorate Augusta Zadow, the first female factory inspector in South Australia back in 1895. Her significant contributions led to the enhancement of working conditions, especially for women and the youth.

SafeWork SA has awarded a total of 38 grants for safety initiatives valued at over $390,000 since the commencement of the awards program in 2005.

The 2024 awards application process commenced on Monday, 20 May 2024, and will conclude on Wednesday, 31 July 2024.
