$2.5 million Lung Bus reaches Nowra to safeguard workers from dust-related illnesses

The NSW Government has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding workers from dust-related illnesses through its new $2.5 million advanced Lung Health Mobile Clinic, offering lung health assessments to thousands throughout the state.

The lung bus initiative offers free lung health checks to over 5,000 employees each year in regional New South Wales.

This represents one of numerous strategies designed to shield workers from diseases associated with dust, particularly those linked to silica and asbestos.

Minister for Work Health and Safety Sophie Cotsis said the introduction of the new Mobile Clinic exemplifies the Minns Labor Government's resolve to dismantle barriers related to cost and location, guaranteeing that workers throughout the State receive the vital support and care necessary for their health protection.

“Along with enforcement of the recent ban on engineered stone, the new Lung Bus demonstrates our commitment to improve outcomes for workers exposed to hazardous dust across NSW,” the minister said.
