173 Australian workers killed in 2023

A total of 173 Australian workers were killed on the job in 2023, according to preliminary data from Safe Work Australia.

Transport postal and warehousing industry leads with 60 fatal occupational incidents followed by the Construction industry, with 31 fatalities. Agriculture, forestry and fishing comes third, with 20 workplace deaths.

In 2022, there were 193 fatal work injuries in Australia.
