WorkSafe New Zealand updates work-related fatality figures

Provisional data released by WorkSafe New Zealand shows five people have been killed in work-related incidents this year.  Industries that have so far recorded fatalities include forestry and logging, agriculture, other services and arts and recreation services. Two of the fatalities occurred in Auckland, while the remaining three fatalities occurred in Waikato, Northland and Canterbury.

In 2020, 67 New Zealand workers died on the job, according to WorkSafe statistics.
