Worker flown to hospital after battery explosion in Wollongong

A man is being treated for serious burns after an explosion at a battery factory in Wollongong.

Fire crews responded to reports of a loud blast at a battery warehouse in North Wollongong on Tuesday afternoon.

The 42-year-old man suffered multiple burn injuries.

He was flown to the Royal North Shore Hospital for specialist treatment.
