Safe Work Australia urges employers to protect workers after surge in COVID-19 cases

A surge in COVID-19 infections has prompted Safe Work Australia to issue a reminder to employers to ensure their employees are safe at work.

The federal safety agency says employers “must eliminate or minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19 as much as reasonably practicable.”

“Our website has detailed information for workplaces, including small businesses, about control measures that can be used to minimise the risks from COVID-19, including ensuring workers do not come to work when unwell, encouraging vaccination, wearing masks, practising physical distancing, improving indoor ventilation and practising good hygiene,” Safe Work Australia said on Monday.
